Good morning everyone.  Happy Monday. I know how much you LOVE Mondays.  I sent you an email last night with specific details on your lit. circle work. Please make sure you read directions carefully.

1.  DUE TODAY:  Lit. circles (check last night's email)

2.  Writing assignment DUE WEDNESDAY by 3:00pm
PART 1:  Clink on the link below and read the article "How Well Do You know You".  Take the quiz to figure out if you are an eagle, parrot, dove, or owl  (I am an eagle😃).  Once you have completed the quiz and read the article, write me a paragraph about how you fly through life as a __________.  Use some the character traits from the quiz in your paragraph.

PART 2:  Scroll all the way to the end of the article to Continue the Learning journey.   Read the second activity about Aesop's Fables.  Use the link to find the list of fables (they are short and interesting).  Read at least 4 or 5 of the fables before you write your own.

When you hand this in on your google document, make sure you label part 1 and part 2, and name your document YOUR NAME: Fable or whatever bird you are

If you finish before Wednesday at 3:00pm, you can hand it in to me, but make sure you edit it 20x before hitting send.  If you don't receive a score, it means I didn't approve it.

Have a great day.

Ms. S

PS.  Mrs. Washburne is assigned to me for support.   If you have any questions or need help with editing, you can reach out to her as well as me.

Fabulous Friday!  It is almost the weekend= yahoo!

1.  Have you received a score for your emoji paragraph?  If not, please complete and send to me.

2.  Did you hand in your lit. circle work yesterday?
Next lit circle assignment due Monday by 3:00pm

3.  Did you do IXL yesterday?  If so, you are off the hook :).  If not, you owe 30 min. by Sunday.

4.  Today's LA assignment:
Please send me your best simile or metaphor that describes remote learning.
**It is only one sentence, so make it a good one.  You have all day to think about it. You can send this in an email because I'm going to past all of them in one document.  The best 3 similes/metaphors will earn a ticket.

5.  Go back through this list, and make sure you have done everything, so you can enjoy your weekend.

I miss all of you 😥

Happy Thursday 😃!

Lit. circles are due by 3:00pm today.  I might end up creating one document for each group, so please check your email later to see if I want you responding to your group's work.

Complete 15 min. of IXL today.  Select a starred skill.  If you get answers wrong, please read the explanation, or email me with questions.  These skills are an important part of your education.

If you didn't get a score for your Emoji Assignment, please finish it today 📝👍, and send it to me.

I'm not assigning anything extra today, so your lit. circle work should be amazing.  Get outside for some fresh air if the weather is nice, or take the time to do something you enjoy.

Missing you more and more each day,
Ms. S

Happy Wonderful Wednesday!
This is the first day of remote learning, so please read directions carefully (more than once). I included a suggestion at the end.

1.  Your literature circles are still due on Thursday, Monday, Thursday, Monday.
Raft needs to submit last annotations to me before reading the next book.

Fallout needs to submit most recent annotations to MRS. OTIS and finish reading the book by Thursday at 3:00pm when you will submit end of the book annotations to MRS. OTIS.

Out of the Dust can submit each section to me on a google document.  At some point, I will create a google document for everyone in this group, so you can comment to each other. PLEASE DON'T READ BEYOND PAGE 51 FOR THIS THURSDAY.

Cloud and Wallfish needs to access the google classroom Mrs. Rainaud set up for you.  Mrs. Rainaud may assign other reading based on the history discussed in your book.

Thunderhead needs to access the google classroom Mrs.Goodwin set up for you.

2.  WED. DAILY ASSIGNMENT:
Use the link below to access Scholastic Learn at Home: Grades 6+.  Go to DAY 1 and read the article titled "All About Emojis".

Complete the following assignment in a google doc and share it with me:
Your Name
Date
Article Name

Watch the “All About Emojis” video😃❤🙃 . At the end of the video, the host asks: “What kinds of emojis would you like to see in the future?” Which emojis do you think are missing🔍 ? It's your turn to come up with an idea for a new emoji—sketch a design in a notebook📓  or on the computer 💻, and write a short paragraph describing it. What does it look like? What category is it in? How do you think people will use it when they're sending a text? Include something you learned in the article when constructing your paragraph. **If you sketch one, send me the picture if possible📸 .

**I showed you my new emoji in my video yesterday :).  Exercise category: Split, smile, with a bow.

Whenever you submit an entry for these articles, I am looking for excellent, detailed writing, where you practice sentence structure, clever thoughts, use of textual evidence, and demonstrate evidence of editing.

I am having a friend judge all emojis.  The top 3 emojis earn tickets🎟🎟🎟 🎉 .

SUGGESTION:
Create a list of assignments each day because you will receive a few emails each day from teachers or ed. techs.
LA:  Lit circles due by Thursday at 3:00pm
Emoji article due today by 4:00pm 🎖
