During the 1st trimester in EXPLORE, students created a map of a U.S. region that included each state's major cities, physical features, major industries, popular attractions, and official animal/bird/flower. These maps were assembled into a larger map of the United States that now hangs on the bulletin board outside the EXPLORE room. In addition, the 7th and 8th grade EXPLORE students studied differences in regional dialects. They surveyed students to see which regional dialects were present here at Acton Elementary. After compiling the results, students created graphs to represent the data and found that the New England and Mid-Atlantic regional dialects are found most among students and staff at AES. |
